About Pinner United

Pinner United F.C. was registered as a youth football club in April 1994 by Dave Howes, a qualified F.A. Coach. Other founding members were Chairman and sponsor, Steve Williams, and Eileen Ellington who was Club Secretary for the first 7 years of the club’s life. Paul Queenan was Club Secretary for 3 years (and has been a coach/manager for 11 years) before handing over to John Walker in 2004.

In its 13 year history, Pinner United has run between 7 and 10 sides per season and in the 2007/8 season will have sides in all age-groups from Under 8 to Under 15. Our 11-a-side teams play their matches at Bessingby Playing Fields, Beverley Road, Ruislip Manor and our 7-a-side teams at Cannon Lane Schools, Cannonbury Avenue, Pinner. These pitches are amongst the best in the league, with the Cannon Lane pitches being outstanding and just the kind of place where parents of talented players would be able to see them develop their skills best.

We believe that we have a unique set up in the way that our boys are coached and this gives a very close-knit club that rarely loses players to other clubs (except professional ones). The club has more qualified coaches than teams but we are always on the look-out for qualified people to assist in the running of our teams.

To date, the club’s best performing side was our Under 16 side, in the 2002/3 season, who completed a unique double, winning the Harrow Youth League Premier Division title and the League Cup competition, their second League and Cup double in successive seasons. The same side, as Under 11s, won the Hayes & District Premier Division title 4 years earlier, memorably winning 15 successive League games. A number of these lads are currently playing semi-professional, first team football.

The 2005/6 season proved to be a very significant one for the club with the Under 13s winning the Harrow Youth Football League Premier Division title and the Under 12s just failing by 2 points to emulate a Premier Division title.

We are fortunate that we have first-class people running our administrative and social set-ups and this makes for a very contented membership. However, we are always striving to improve in all areas, but particularly in our playing strength. Therefore, we are always keen to hear from good young players, aged 6-15, to whom we can offer trials and a quick decision on their suitability.

Every June the club celebrates its season, holding a Presentation Evening for its 100+ players and their families. Every boy who has played for the club receives a playing award and for each team there are 4 individual awards – Players’ Player, Manager’s Player, Most Improved Player and Team Clubman. The club also awards 3 major club awards – The Steve Williams Trophy and Dave Howes Award to our top 11-a-side players and The Darryl Moody Trophy for our best 7-a-side player.
